My name is Phil Goddard, I'm British and I'm 48. I'm walking from New York heading for California on an odyssey I have dubbed "Journey for Jayne".

From the Producer

The walk is in memory of my wife who died of colon cancer in January at the age of 49. If I'm being honest, I'm doing it for me first and foremost. I miss Jayne very much, and I need time to reflect on our eighteen happy years together and decide what to do next with my life.

But I also want to raise lots of money for a really good cause. If just one piece of research helped by my walk saves one person's life, it will all have been worthwhile. That's why I'm collecting for the Association for International Cancer Research , which funds projects all over the world, including Britain and the United States.
